Asansol Engineering College

Asansol Engineering College is a self financed institute and was established in 1998. The college is spread over a campus of around 17 acres and is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT). It has also been approved by AICTE. The institute offers courses both in UG and PG domain such as B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA, etc. 

Located in Asansol, West Bengal, the college offers all the basic facilities like sports complex, gym, library, etc. The college has approximately 3000 students and 200 faculty members and lab assistants.

The college offers both UG and PG courses in different fields. The basic eligibility and course fees are tabulated below:

AEC Asansol Admission

The college offers UG and PG programmes with various specializations. The admission to B.Tech, MCA and M.Tech is made through entrance exams and for other courses; the college follows a merit based system for selection. The basic eligibility for UG courses is that the students should have completed 10+2 and for PG courses the students must have completed their Graduation.

• For B.Tech, candidates need to appear in an entrance level test, WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination) or JEE Mains entrance exams.
• For admission in Mtech, the candidates need to appear and achieve qualifying score in the entrance exam PGET.
• For admission in MCA, candidates need to appear in a written test, called JECA, conducted by WBJEE.

Candidates can find all the information regarding applications forms, counselling dates and fee structures on the official website. After the allotment of seats in counselling, the applicants can do the further formalities for admission in the college.

Asansol Engineering College has a proper Placement and Training cell which overlooks the development of students and is responsible for conducting placement drives. Both internships and placements are offered by the College.

The students get offers from both core Engineering and non- Core companies. Around 350 job offers were made by mass recruiting companies. Some of the major recruiters of 2019 placement session are listed below:

Persistent System offered INR 6.41 LPA to students of AEC, Asansol. The highest package bagged was for INR 7.5 Lakhs as of now. However, the average package is around INR 4.5 Lakhs.

AEC Asansol Scholarships

The College offers scholarships to the needy students but they need to meet certain eligibility criteria as there is an entrance exam for scholarship. They need to maintain good academic results throughout college. 

The scholarships are initiated by the State Government or Central Government for the meritorious and reserved categories. The institute offers scholarships under the name of ‘Freeship’ to students who performed well in academics.

The college provides all the basic facilities to its students on its campus only. The infrastructure of the campus is quite well built with facilities like:

• Library: The College has a central library and six Departmental libraries which collectively support the teaching-learning programmes of the institute. The books can be issued from the Book bank for a limited period of time.
• Hostel: The College offers three boy’s hostels and two girl’s hostels equipped with all the basic amenities and recreational facilities.
• Gymnasium: The College has a well-equipped gymnasium with all the modern equipment and machines.
• Cafeteria: The College has a well maintained, hygienic, airy Cafeteria which serves Regional, South Indian, Chinese and several other tasty dishes. It is a good place for students to hangout.
• Clubs: With the help of CSE department the college has its own Tech Club where various activities and events are organized.

Ans. No, staying in a hostel is not compulsory for the students of AEC Asansol. Students can opt to daily come to college by their own means. However, Hostel facility is available if students want to opt for hostels.

Ques. Is there any special training provided to students apart from course syllabus at AEC Asansol?

Ans. Yes, AEC Asansol provides personality development and soft skills training to its students so that they can perform well in campus placement interviews. Finishing School Programs (FSP) are also there for all branches.

Ques. Can a student residing outside of Bengal apply for reservation quota offered by AEC Asansol?

Ans. Since AEC Asansol is a self financed institute, it does not offer any reservation quota on any grounds.
